Welcome to Sketching the Everyday, Every Day
A live January ZOOM workshop with Shari Blaukopf!
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday groups are all full.
12 p.m. till 3 p.m. Eastern Time (Montreal and NYC)
I’ve learned that you don’t need exotic vistas and faraway places to be inspired. During winter or bad weather, or when I’m stuck at home for one reason or another, I never lack for subjects to sketch. Fruit and veg straight from the fridge. Paint tubes and ink bottles. Houseplants and flowers. Random bottles and jars. I spread them out on my counter and they quickly reveal their beauty on paper. Each, however ordinary, opens a window on fresh ways of seeing. Each gives me an opportunity to try new techniques and an excuse to experiment.
What to expect
I’ll begin each weekly 3-hour Zoom session with a demo, during which you can paint along. You can use the photo I’ll send you. But I encourage you to sketch from your own objects. You can ask questions during the demo, as well as immediately after, when I open the floor for discussion about what we’ve learned. Like my on-location workshops, the session will be live, interactive and engaging.
During the four weeks, we’ll work on strengthening your skills in drawing, composition, value sketching, colour mixing and sketching. We’ll also try out various techniques and art materials, to stretch your abilities and artistic reach. What else?
· I’ll set up an online forum where you can post work and ask further questions
· I’ll give you a weekly homework assignment and provide feedback on your work
· Plus, every session will be recorded and available to you during the four weeks of the class, in case you can’t attend or you want to replay it and practice!
